Soufiane Chiab, Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of the National Community Abroad, met with members of the Algerian community residing in Qatar on Saturday during a working visit. Algerian Ambassador to Qatar, Saleh Attia, was also present. Chiab affirmed the Algerian state's commitment to strengthening direct communication with the national community abroad and accompanying its competencies. He stated the state values their contributions to national development. Chiab emphasized, "The professional and scientific successes achieved by these competencies are a source of pride and honor for Algeria, and reflect its positive image on the international stage, as well as demonstrating the ability of Algerians to excel and innovate in their various places of presence." The meeting noted efforts by Algerian authorities to address community concerns.
Community Growth and Contributions
Soufiane Chiab praised the position of the Algerian community in Qatar, noting the remarkable growth it has experienced in recent years. He stated the community in Qatar hosts a significant number of Algerian competencies and experts across various specialized fields. Cultural Center Development
Before the meeting, Soufiane Chiab visited the site designated for the Algerian Cultural Center in Doha. The center is expected to officially open in the coming months, following the issuance of Presidential Decree No. 02/26 on January 7, 2026, for its establishment in Qatar. The Cultural Center will serve as a space to showcase Algerian culture and its diverse heritage. It will also function as a gathering space for the Algerian community residing in Qatar.
Community Dialogue
The meeting provided an interactive dialogue session, allowing community members to directly engage with Soufiane Chiab and other officials.
